Doing Everything Right And Still Not Losing Weight? Read This.

You're training, you're tracking, you're sleeping. The scale doesn't care. Here's where I'd actually look first.

You train four days a week. You hit your protein. You sleep decently, mostly. And the scale has not moved in two months. You're not crazy and you're not broken — but something in the equation is off, and it's usually not what Instagram told you it was.

The four places I look first

1. Your weekend is eating your week

Five disciplined days and two free days averages out to nothing. You don't need to be perfect on Saturday. You need to stop spending Sunday and Monday undoing it.

2. You're exercising, not training

Random hard workouts burn calories but don't build anything. Fat loss that sticks runs on muscle, and muscle comes from progressive strength work — the same lifts, heavier over time. Sweat is not a metric.

3. Your tracking has a leak

Cooking oil, bites while you're cooking, drinks, weekend lattes, the handful of almonds that was three handfuls. Nobody's dishonest — everybody's bad at estimating. Audit one honest week and the mystery usually solves itself.

4. You've been dieting so long your body adapted

Months of eating in a deficit teaches your body to run on less. Sometimes the fix isn't eating less — it's a planned phase of eating at maintenance, training hard, and letting your metabolism remember what normal feels like. This is where most people need a coach, because it feels backwards.

What I'd do in your shoes

  1. Track everything for 7 days. No judgment, just data. Include the weekends.
  2. Pick 4 lifts and get stronger at them for 8 weeks. Stop changing programs.
  3. Walk 8,000 steps a day. Boring, unsexy, and it moves more fat than any finisher.
  4. If all three are honest and nothing moves in 6 weeks, bring the data to a professional. Then we talk adaptation.

If you want me to run this audit for you, that's what I do. Answer five questions on the Play By Dave quiz and I'll tell you exactly where I'd start.
